Collection: Sencha
Sencha is the quintessential Japanese green tea. It is grown in full sunlight and is processed in multiple stages: steaming, kneading, drying, sifting, roasting and often blending. Sencha is noted for its delicate sweetness, mild astringency and flowery-green aroma. Though it is popular, not all Sencha are the same.
Like wine, coffee, and other agricultural products, the quality, taste, and overall experience of a Sencha will vary depending on the following factors ‐ growing area, tea cultivar, harvest season, manufacturing process, and brewing technique. We offer Sencha from areas such as Shizuoka, Uji, and Kagoshima. Our Sencha are made of a variety of different cultivars, from the ubiquitous Yabukita cultivar to the lesser-known Yutaka‐midori and Okumidori cultivars.
