Recent Price Increases
Hello everyone. Thank you for your continued support of our company.
Like our fellow tea companies, the matcha mayhem of 2025 has inevitably impacted us as well. As such, we are increasing our prices to reflect the myriad increased costs associated with providing you a consistent source for our many varieties of matcha and other Japanese teas. The information here can also be found in our most recent wholesale newsletter, but we thought we would mention it on our site as well.
In the spirit of transparency, we would like to briefly discuss the elements that contribute to our rising cost of production:
Demand: By and large, the surge in demand has been the strongest influence on the matcha market. As you can see with the inventory drought across many other tea companies, demand is outpacing the production speeds and availability for many. Thanks to our strong and long lasting relationships with our tea producers, we have incredible access to supply (at understandably higher prices) even in these times.
Matcha Mills: it takes an immense amount of time to simply grind matcha, and with the extraordinary demand there are now very backed-up queues for the matcha mills. To ensure our stable supply, we must now compete for mill priority and even air ship our freshly ground matcha as soon as it is available to reach you in a timely manner.
Yield: This year’s production was reduced by 10-15% across all tea fields in Japan due to eratic weather patterns for the months leading to harvest. While this was certainly not unique to 2025, this is the first year where demand is outpacing supply even without the weather troubles - a reminder that every tea leaf should be treasured.
We understand this is a difficult situation for everyone and are committed to you as our partners in the tea industry. Thank you so much for your understanding.
